Relationships After Abuse
Connection is something we all long for, but rarely do we have safe spaces to talk about intimacy. Survivors of abuse especially have so many battles in this area and so many express that they feel “something is a matter with them”. The beauty that comes from being understood without having to detail, explain is a freedom that brings people back to talk about relationships with Denise and seek her out to gain other perspectives about their situation.
They know they are safe to talk about their most vulnerable pieces of abuse and that no judgment, no opinions… ONLY love, compassion, and understanding.
How do you have relationships with your spouse, children, siblings, parents when they don’t understand?
How do you find the passion you are looking for when you are unable to connect in other areas of intimacy?
How do you engage in new relationships or current ones when you have unconscious trauma reminders?
How do you connect to someone when you learned to disassociate to survive?
So many questions and nowhere to ask.
Many have had the difficult road of loving those who did not love back, disassociation from areas of relationships, recovered memories of child sexual abuse, body shame, and desire to escape rather than be vulnerable, however…
MUTUAL relationships and BOUNDARIES is the key.
LOVE is the answer.
SELF-LOVE is the first step.
